Black Joy Fund

The festival was just a moment. We’re here to make this a MOVEMENT!

See details, requirements, and application below.

If you didn’t know, or didn’t have a chance to make it yesterday— BLACK: A Festival of Joy is supported by The Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) and a collective of Black-led organizations and individuals in Indianapolis seeking to support, center, and uplift Black Joy in Indianapolis.

We’re excited to see the Black Joy continue, through the amazing and talented curators who provide spaces for us to gather and have fun.

Events allow us an opportunity to connect with the community and celebrate each other. A cornerstone of culture.

We know that putting on quality events can be expensive — so that’s why we’ve created the Black Joy Fund. We’re granting $25,000 to 10 applicants that represent Black-owned businesses or Black-led organizations based in Indy.

Requirements:
– Applicants must represent Black-owned businesses or Black-led organizations based in Indianapolis.
– Events must take place between October 1, 2022-April 1, 2023 in order to be considered for funding support.

Judging and Criteria:
Applications will be judged based on event accessibility and inclusivity, the organizer’s commitment to uplift and center Blackness as well as overall cultural impact and originality. Consideration will be made to grassroots/community-based organizations with demonstrated needs.

Timeline:
– August 7th: Application Opens
– September 7th: Application Closes
– September 21st: Finalists Announced

Fundees will also be recognized during the inaugural Black Joy event in August 2023.
